He has extensive experience fundraising for charities from a young age and has previously volunteered with a range of charities, from those promoting international human rights to a london-based women's refuge. Adam is a barrister with Harcourt Chambers practicing in family law specialising in domestic violence, child welfare, contact arrangements for separated parents and the distribution of assets after divorce. Ceri is certified as a Civil and Commercial Mediator. Olivia completed her law degree at the University of Nottingham, where she participated in pro bono volunteering projects. These included devising and teaching human rights-related courses to sixth form students in both Nottingham and Ghana. Olivia spent a year working as a Casework Assistant at Amicus, the fair trials charity. There, she helped to progress a large casework project, as well as undertaking some of the charity’s administrative tasks, fundraising and event organisation. Olivia completed an LLM in Human Rights Law at Queen Mary, University of London, and the Bar Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy. Olivia is currently a Research Assistant at the Law Commission, working on criminal law reform projects. Olivia was very involved during her time at university such as serving on the Bar Society and Law Society committees. Most recently she was the Welfare Officer of the Law Society in which she was awarded the ‘Most Committed to Increasing Diversity Award’ at the LawCareers.Net Student Law Society Awards 2020 for her work. Brittany read law at the University of Nottingham where she was involved with both the Mooting and Bar Society. She studied her BPTC and LLM at City Law School. She completed an internship in Houston, Texas with the Gulf Region Advocacy Center (GRACE) through Reprieve. GRACE mitigates for those facing the death penalty in Texas. She also interned at the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore, Maryland. During this time, she volunteered at a non-profit called ‘Second Chance for Women’ that operated out of Maryland Correctional Institution in Jessup. She has previously volunteered for APPEAL (formerly Centre for Criminal Appeals) where she conducted legal research and case analysis. Currently, she works as a paralegal in extradition and criminal law. She will commence a criminal pupillage in October 2021. “The law affects us on a daily basis in so many ways. She was also a member of the ‘Gender Matters’ Society and was involved in organising a conference with various schools to discuss gender rights and barriers that we currently face. Sanjana is currently studying Law with a year abroad in English at the University of Warwick and about to enter her second year. She is part of the Warwick Law and Bar Society. At University Sanjana has participated in various mooting competitions including the HSF First year, Inter-Year and Commercial moot. Whilst studying for her masters degree, she participated in the Coroners and Inquests programme, helping bereaved families understand the inquest process. Following her studies, Hannah worked as a policy officer at the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority. After this, she hopes to undertake a paralegal role before applying for pupillage. She has written articles on international law and human rights that have been published in the European Law Students' Association Law Review 2019 and the BPP Human Rights Journal. She has volunteered as a co-researcher for BPP's Streetlaw creating a presentation on criminal appeals to be delivered to current prisoners. Moreover, she has volunteered for the University of Nottingham's Unbarred Project to deliver a presentation on employment and disclosure periods to current prisoners. She will start as a trainee lawyer at a city firm in London. She is a casework volunteer for Advocate, a pro bono charity and a volunteer researcher at the Cambridge pro bono project, studying the use of pro bono cost orders. She is also advising a social venture start-up, Shaping Horizons, on business and legal matters. Outside of law, Janet has hands-on experience with numerous community groups and organisations. She volunteered with the Ethiopian Women's Empowerment Group where she prepared workshops for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) women. She also interned with the International Drug Policy Consortium, an International NGO which advocates for the policy of harm reduction and a shift away from criminalisation and incarceration of drug users. He is now a secondary school teacher, having joined the Teach First programme at an all-girls' school in North London. He always tries to bring the real world into his lessons and form times, and is excited by Leducate’s similar ambition. In the summer of 2020 he worked with the British Film Institute to develop a series of lessons aimed at bringing foreign films to life in the Spanish classroom. During this time she interned as a delegate at the United Nations in Geneva, advocating the rights of women, particularly from indigenous backgrounds like her own. Ammarah has had the opportunity to travel and provide legal advice abroad: in South Africa to those living in townships and in Greece provided humanitarian aid and legal support to those in refugee camps and detention centres. Over the years Rehan has worked in numerous paralegal roles across different sectors of the legal market accumulating knowledge of different practice areas. Rehan is also a lead organiser for his firm’s charity committee, having organised fundraisers for selected charities each year.
